‘Diverse Dialogue’ Report of the Proceedings of the North South Intercultural Forum 2005 -2008
This report will be launched at the Seventh North South Intercultural Forum to be held on Friday 12th September at 9.30 am in the Tower Hotel, Derry.
The report details the North South Intercultural Forum’s reviews of policy and service delivery to Black and minority ethnic, including Traveller, communities in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties of Ireland over the three year period, 2005 – 2008.
Joe Lenaghan, Regional Director, NCCRI, said,
‘Each of the six North South Intercultural Forums, and eight North South Traveller Roundtables held during this period focused Employment & Migration; Housing & Accommodation; Education; HealthServices; Social & Children’s Services; Immigration and Funding policies and each of the Forum’s deliberations which are summarised in the Diverse Dialogue report and provide a series of snap shots over that period of time. We hope that the Diverse Dialogue report will act as a catalyst in the development of future ‘North South’ synergies around these important policy and service delivery areas leading to more positive outcomes for members of minority ethnic and Traveller communities in across this region.’
The theme of the Seventh Forum will be monitoring and responding to racist incidents and support for victims and is expected to attract over 50 participants, north and south to consider current practice in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Britain.
This North South event is being organised by the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism(NCCRI) as part of the national programme of events to mark European Year of Intercultural Dialogue(EYID) 2008.
