What is the Training for Trainers Programme?
The Anti-Racism and Intercultural Awareness Training for Trainers Programme is a two-day training programme targeted at people who have a background in training and facilitation and who can demonstrate an interest and knowledge of anti-racism and interculturalism. The aim of the training is to provide people with the necessary tools and knowledge to deliver anti-racism training.

At the end of the training programme participants will be able to:

  1. Define the key terms relating to racism and interculturalism
  2. Identify the different forms of racism and the groups affected by it in the Irish context
  3. Interpret the historical and contemporary context of racism i.e. slavery, colonization, North /South inequalities etc.
  4. Explain the power relation between the majority ethnic group and the minority ethnic group
  5. Summarise the facts and figures in relation to migration trends in Ireland and their implications
  6. Explain the legal framework and the policy developments in relation to addressing racism in Ireland.
  7. Analyse the role of the media in perpetuating racism
  8. Understand and explain the key concepts of integration such as assimilation, multiculturalism and interculturalism

How do I apply to the Training for trainers programme?
The NCCRI deliver the training programme twice a year. If you are interested in participating on the training for training programme, please fill out the above application form and ssend it to Kensika Monshengwo at the NCCRI. We will include you on our database and inform you of the next available training programme.

Due to the high level of demand for the training for trainers programme, the NCCRI operates a selection process based on people's experience and skills. Not all people who apply for the programme will be offered a place.
